This is an SQA Approved 3-day course that complies with the Health Safety First Aid Regulations 1981. Personnel are trained to a standard where they can administer basic first aid in the workplace until more qualified help arrives. First Aid at Work3 Day Course Content On completion of training successful candidates should be able to Provide emergency first aid at work Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones muscles and joints including suspected spinal injuries chest injuries burns and scalds eye injuries sudden poisoning anaphylactic shock Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid including heart attack stroke epilepsy asthma diabetes Understand the role of the first-aider including reference to the importance of preventing cross infection the need for recording incidents and actions use of available equipment Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely promptly and effectively in an emergency Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious including seizure Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including small cuts grazes and bruises minor burns and scalds small splinters Completion On successful completion of the course and final assessment the delegate will receive an SQA approved nationally recognised First Aid at Work certificate. They will also receive an updated learner record sent directly from the SQA. This is valid for 3 years however the HSE recommends that first aiders undertake annual first aid update training. All delegates also receive a course pack including a first aid manual. Course Dates Every week Monday to Wednesday Cost 250vat This is an SQA Approved 2-day refresher course that complies with the Health Safety First Aid Regulations 1981. Personnel that are trained in First Aid at Work must complete this course within 3 years of first qualifying. FirstAidatWorkRefresher2Day Course Content This course offers an overview of all subjects covered on the 3-day First Aid at Work course and also introduces any new techniques legislation or guidelines that have arisen since the delegate originally qualified. Completion On successful completion of the course and final assessment the delegate will receive an SQA approved nationally recognised First Aid at Work certificate. They will also receive an updated learner record sent directly from the SQA. This is valid for 3 years however the HSE recommends that first aiders undertake annual first aid update training. All delegates also receive a course pack including a first aid manual. Course Dates Every week Tuesday to Wednesday Cost 175vat This is a SQA Approved 1-day course that complies with the Health Safety First Aid Regulations 1981. It provides personnel with the minimum level of first aid training for the workplace. Course Dates Every Monday Cost 90vat This half-day course follows the UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines for training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators as stipulated by the HSE. Defibrillator Training12 Day Course Content Basic life support CPR refresher Safety and legal aspects of defibrillation Why we need defibrillators Life threatening cardiac rhythms Application and practical training in the use of the defibrillator General first aid update on new techniques or changes in legislation We have training defibrillators from a number of different manufacturers to ensure that delegates are trained and familiar with the defibrillator that they are most likely to encounter in an emergency. Completion On completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate of attendance this is valid for 1 year. The UK Resuscitation Council guidelines recommends that this training should be refreshed annually but preferably more often.
